ESSEC has the honor of hosting the European Congress for Sustainable Development and Local Governance. This joint event of the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) and the ASRDLF (l'Association de Sciences Régionales de Langue française), co-organized by ESSEC and the INRA (Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique), brings together the most significant number of researchers and specialists in the fields of local governance and sustainable development since the 2002 Earth Summit in Johannesburg.
The Secretary of State for Ecology Mrs. Kosciusko-Morizet is present to give an address on Thursday 30th August at 9.15am. The European Sustainable Development and Local Governance congress comes at a very opportune time, providing a forum to address issues of burning importance:
Amongst the highlights of this congress is the awarding of the European Researcher of the Year prize for regional science, due to be held on Wednesday 29th August, at 5.30pm.
Also featuring on a rich program of events are conferences on urban and sustainable development that including contributions from the economist Peter Njjkamp (University of Amsterdam) and the sociologist Saskia Sassen (Columbia University, New York).
